Let’s be honest: putting yourself out there on social media isn’t always easy, especially when someone disagrees with what you’ve shared. You might be talking about something that feels important, thoughtful, or even helpful… and then boom. A comment rolls in that makes your stomach drop. Maybe it’s a fellow professional who questions your approach. […]

Almost every therapist with a private practice has felt the “summer slump” at some point. Maybe you’re reading this with one eye on the calendar and the other on a client list that’s suddenly looking a little… sparse. If you’re already dreading the seasonal slowdown or, equally, looking forward to a well-earned break but worried […]

Let’s talk LinkedIn. I know, it hasn’t always been the first platform therapists think of when it comes to marketing. But 2025 is shaping up to be a turning point. And if you’re a therapist who’s serious about growing a meaningful, aligned practice (without spending your life on Instagram), LinkedIn might just be your secret […]

Let’s talk about content pillars – those trusty “buckets” you’ve probably heard about if you’ve spent any time trying to plan your social media as a therapist. Once hailed as the holy grail of content strategy, content pillars were meant to help you organise what you talk about online so that you weren’t staring at […]

If you’ve been posting Reels consistently but feel like they’re going nowhere, you’re not alone. Maybe you’re getting 200-300 views, tops, and it’s mostly from the same small group of followers. Maybe you’ve put time and effort into making Reels that speak directly to your dream clients, but the reach just isn’t there. It’s frustrating, […]

The Marketing Mistake Therapists Don’t Even Realise They’re Making (And How It’s Costing Them Clients)

The other day, I was at the dentist for a routine check-up, lying back in the chair, trying to pretend I wasn’t internally panicking about my flossing habits. As my dentist inspected my teeth, they started calling out numbers to the dental nurse. “Zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero…” I wasn’t nodding along in understanding—mostly […]

If your follower count isn’t moving, your first instinct might be to post more. But you probably don’t need to! People don’t just hit ‘Follow’ just because of one great post. They follow because your profile instantly tells them you’re relevant to them. If that message isn’t clear, they’ll move on. The good news is […]

Therapists: This Is Why Your Content Isn’t Working (And How to Fix It)

Ever spent way too long crafting an Instagram post, hit “publish,” and then… nothing? A handful of likes (mostly from other therapists), no real engagement, and definitely no enquiries from potential clients. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. So many therapists struggle with social media because they focus on what to say, without thinking […]

Marketing your private practice can feel overwhelming. You’ve tried posting consistently, experimenting with trends, and following every formula you’ve come across—but nothing seems to stick. If you’ve ever thought, “Why is this so hard?” you’re not alone. It’s (probably) not your effort that’s the issue. It’s your focus. The Real Problem: Lack of Clarity Most […]

You didn’t start your practice to feel stuck in survival mode. You started it because you wanted something bigger – a practice that gives you purpose, freedom, and the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives. But let’s be honest: when you’re working with clients who don’t feel aligned, that vision can feel […]

One of the biggest reasons therapists struggle wit One of the biggest reasons therapists struggle with social media isn’t a lack of skill or care. It’s the pressure to be palatable to everyone 🤯

To write in a way that’s neutral.
To appeal to every possible client.
To stay safe, broad, and agreeable.

But clarity requires courage.

And courage means being willing to stand for something, which usually means you’ll stand apart from something else.

The more specific you get about who you love working with, the more your message starts to land. Not with everyone, but with the right people.

The people who read your words and think, “That’s me.”

That’s when marketing stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like a conversation with someone who actually wants to hear it.

You don’t need to be everyone’s therapist.

You need to be someone’s therapist.

Let me know if you needed to hear this today ❤️

We were supposed to go to Gran Canaria last Octobe We were supposed to go to Gran Canaria last October. That got cancelled. So we rebooked for this spring, thinking, “Surely this time…” 🤞

Cut to: us, sitting on a Ryanair flight for 4 hours, waiting to take off, only to be told it was cancelled!!😅

Apparently, the big power outage in Spain caused chaos everywhere. We weren’t even going to the mainland, but that didn’t seem to matter.

So instead of sangria and buffet breakfasts, we ended up in West Moors, with little day trips around the South Coast.

And the weather here was actually better than Gran Canaria! 🤣

No palm trees, but we did have forest walks, sunny beaches, and ice cream.

Honestly, not too bad for a cursed holiday.

Now, I know this is the part where I’m meant to say something deep about how this is just like running a business...

But I’m not going to do that 😁

Sometimes your plans just go completely sideways.

And sometimes you still get Pimms on the beach and a bit of sun on your face ☀️

Ever had a plan go completely sideways... and turn out better than expected?
